🎓 Calling All Brighten Academy Alumni Seniors! 🎓

Were you once a Brighten Academy student in elementary or middle school and are now graduating from high school this year? We would love to celebrate you during our Founder’s Day festivities with a special Senior Walk on stage!

Join us on Friday, May 15th, as we recognize and honor our graduating alumni. Seniors interested in participating should arrive no later than 8:15 AM dressed in your fabulous cap & gown and ready to be celebrated by the Brighten Academy family!

We can’t wait to welcome you back home and celebrate this exciting milestone with you! 💙✨

Our 5th Annual Autism Event, “Light It Up Blue,” is one of those days that truly reflects who we are as a community. It’s about showing up for our students and families, spending time together, and creating a space where everyone feels seen and supported!

We’ll have games, crafts, storytelling, snacks, and opportunities to connect throughout the day.

The event is free to attend, with some items and activities available for purchase.

🛒 The Brighten Academy Charter School celebrated the grand opening of the BACS Grocery Store yesterday! This student-led initiative is proof that young people can make a real difference in their community. Our team was honored to celebrate this moment with such an inspiring school community.

Yesterday’s Donuts with a Grown-Up event couldn’t have been sweeter! 🍩
Our students shared sweet treats with the people who matter most to them during lunch, creating lots of smiles and special moments around the table.

This event would not have been possible without the amazing team at the Douglasville Highway 5 Store #302835. A special thank you to store manager Bre for generously donating 10 dozen donuts to help make this day so special for our students and their families.

The Brighten Academy crew is incredibly grateful for your partnership and support of our school community. We cannot wait to do it again!

Hello Brighten Crew,

Brighten Academy will reopen Tuesday January 27. All schedules, including before and after school activities, will operate on normal schedule.

Greetings Brighten Crew,

Due to severe winter weather approaching our area, school will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. All extracurricular and athletic events are also canceled on Monday. No school for students or staff.

The decision to close the school district on Monday comes after days of careful consideration of National Weather Service (NWS) reports and guidance from Governor Brian Kemp’s current statewide State of Emergency.

To stay informed of updates, we encourage families to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages, check dcssga.org for the latest information, and verify that your contact details are up to date in Infinite Campus.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and will communicate any changes through these official notification channels.

Expect another update by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, regarding the status of Tuesday, January 27, 2026. At that time, we will announce any additional changes to Tuesday’s schedule, as well as any needed adjustments to after-school activities or athletic events.
