Congratulations to Korry Sessoms, a rising senior at New Manchester High School through FLEX Academy, on earning a perfect 1600 on the SAT! This achievement is earned by less than 0.03% of students who take the SAT nationwide!
Korry's success is the result of years of dedication, discipline, and a commitment to truly understanding the material.
Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while completing his high school requirements, Korry also chose to remain enrolled to continue challenging himself through dual enrollment at the University of West Georgia. He plans to study engineering before pursuing his ultimate goal of becoming a lawyer.
Korry offers this advice to other students: βFocus on learning rather than chasing a score. Understand your mistakes, stay consistent, and don't get discouraged. Improvement takes time."
His teacher, Thaddeus D. Jones, shared: βThe 1600 score is a number, but it reflects something inherently deeper: a young person who shows up fully, thinks critically, and never settles for less than their best. I am incredibly proud and excited about the trajectory of this young man's life."
Korry's achievement is a powerful reminder that where you come from does not determine where you can go. With hard work, discipline, and perseverance, extraordinary things are possible.
Congratulations, Korry! The Douglas County School System can't wait to see what you accomplish next. ππ

ππ·οΈ Thank you to all the families who joined us at the Douglas County Board of Education last night for Douglas Loves Literacy!
Our celebrity guest reader, Douglas County Teacher of the Year Dr. Latoya Thomas, brought Diary of a Spider to life during a fun and engaging storytime. After the reading, students got creative by making their own Diary of a Spider books from scratch!
Families also enjoyed free books, sweet treats, juice boxes, and a memorable experience on the microphone with Dr. Thomas.
Don't forget to log your reading minutes in the Beanstack app as we work toward our community goal of 3 million minutes read this summer! πβ¨
