🎭 “Music is only for the talented.”
I’ve heard this one so many times.
As a music teacher, I can tell you—it’s just not true.
Music isn’t reserved for the gifted.
It’s part of our shared human story—and every child deserves to explore it.
That’s why I created Off Key: Myth or Melody—a little myth-busting series based on the things I hear from parents all the time.
Today I’m sharing a few of the cards in a quick slideshow—feel free to swipe through!
🎶 And if you’re looking for a fun way to make music part of your child’s summer, I’d love to share my Summer Music Activity Pack with you!
It’s full of:
✔️ Beginner-friendly rhythm games
✔️ Crafts and coloring pages
✔️ Music activities you can do together (no instrument required!)
✨ Just drop a 🎶 or comment “summer music” and I’ll send you the info!
Music Isn’t reserved for the gifted.
It’s for every child.
When I taught music in schools, I was once told, “You can’t grade an elementary student on talent.
But I never graded talent.
I graded effort. Listening. Growth.
Because musical learning isn’t about being “naturally gifted”—it’s about making space to explore, create, and connect.
That’s what inspired me to create something new for families this summer. 🎶✨
The Summer Music Activity Pack is full of fun, beginner-friendly activities—no piano or music background required!
Inside you’ll find:
🎵 Music games
🖍️ Coloring and creative printables
🎶 Sorting and rhythm activities
🎨 Simple music crafts
. . and lots of ways to explore music together with your child.
Whether you're homeschooling, looking for a screen-light summer option, or just want to nurture your child’s creativity—this pack was made for you.

I’m not a music expert… can I still teach my child music?”
It’s a question I hear from parents all the time—and the answer might surprise you.
If you love music, if you sing around the house, if you turn up the radio on a good day… you’re already more qualified than you think.
You don’t need a music degree to support your child’s musical growth—just a little curiosity and encouragement.
This is the first myth we’re busting in my new Off Key: Myth or Melody series—because I believe every parent can help their child grow musically.
Want some fun and easy ways to get started?
