Douglas County High School proudly celebrated the International Baccalaureate Class of 2026 at its annual IB Pinning Ceremony on February 12. The evening marked an important milestone as seniors prepare to complete the final requirements of the IB Diploma Programme.

A meaningful highlight of the evening was the tradition of students selecting a teacher or mentor to pin them, symbolizing the relationships that have supported them throughout their IB journey. In a special moment, IB Coordinator Dr. Whitney Dubrulle pinned her son, Julien, while art teacher Tia Henson pinned her son, Wyatt, reflecting the strong sense of family and community that defines the Douglas County IB program.
As the Class of 2026 enters the final stage of the IB Diploma Programme, the Pinning Ceremony served as a reminder of their resilience, growth, and shared commitment to excellence. With IB examinations approaching, these students move forward prepared not only as scholars, but as thoughtful leaders ready to make an impact beyond Douglas County High School, where greatness grows here.

Meet the first @iborganization Youth Advisory Council. Selected from over 1,400 applications, this group brings together youth voices connected to the experiences of more than 2 million IB students worldwide. Each member comes with their own context, questions, and lived experience, contributing insight and perspective into how the IB continues to evolve. You will also hear from Jennifer Bahrami and Tim Logan (Co-leads of IB Festival of Hope), who reflect on why creating spaces for youth participation and connection is essential to the IB and its wider youth initiatives. This is not about speaking for everyone. It is about building pathways for insight, participation, and shared responsibility across the IB community. Youth agency in action.
