Taco ‘Bout the Teacher! My students really enjoyed learning more about their teacher with this scavenger hunt. Students were given a list of questions regarding fun facts about their teacher. They were asked to go around their classroom and find the corresponding answers. They were so excited so learn more about their teacher and have a fun competition with their friends! This was a great way to break the ice during the first week of school.

The One and Only Ivan needs his one and only zoo! My kids loved reading this book and can’t wait to be rewarded with the movie! Considering it is the end of the year, projects are a MUST! Creating the perfect zoo was a great way to allow the kids to be creative, collaborate, and think outside of the box. I will definitely be doing this activity next year!

We had an EGG-celent time writing about chickens this week! As a reward for my students’ im-PECK-able work, they were able to play with some baby chicks. They learned about a chicken’s life cycle, genetic traits, and debated if it was the chicken or the egg that came first. Third grade has been working around the CLUCK and I couldn’t be more proud! 🐣

Just wanted to share what we have been doing in 3rd grade! This week, 3rd grade has been given the opportunity to complete an author study!!! 📚This has allowed our students to dive deeper into the author’s life and work. They have had so much fun getting to work together on this and complete their choice board! I have enjoyed watching them critically evaluate the author’s theme, purpose, and writing style!

I also tied writing into this by asking them to change 1-3 big details in the author’s original story. Then, they have to rewrite their story based off the changes they made!
