As a reminder please if you/your child are sick please refrain from bringing them/coming to classes until they/you are Better, it is the time of season and jiu jitsu is very close proximity art.

If you or your child are exhibiting symptoms they/you will not be able to participate in classes out of respect for their team mates and not passing it along.

Also if it impacts myself or coaches we may have to cancel classes, which I never want to do on my account. In 5 years time I have only missed 9 classes ever and most of the time had coaches step up to fill those times. Something I take pride in.

Sickness does occur outside the academy but it is so easy to pass it along with what we do please be mindful of this.

Let us all be mindful and respectful during this cold and flu season, a week off the mats is not a huge deal, but if we continue to pass it around our school it affects our whole group for months, thank you for understanding.

Had a great Time at the tournament today.
Lessons learned victories were had and tough matches all the way around. These four had about 24 matches between them in no gi and gi in their divisions and absolute. I’m proud to say we had a great finish rate as well as only succumbing to submission in 4 matches total and most matches went the distance and many won by submission. There were so many close calls too with last min. subs that we didn’t complete but if they had more time would have sealed the deal undoubtedly.

Very proud of these guys for working hard in training and even putting in extra sessions and carrying the MSTA and Gracie Humaitai LV flag. As a side note it was all these young men’s first ever Tournament experience and I feel they did great, very proud of them all.

Tomorrow back in the lab to work on the things we identified and it only gets better from here. Congrats Hunter James Sylas and Zeke well done!

Hey all I will bringing some examples of mock ups for rash guards, shorts and hats (one style not shown) tonight for training. We will be doing pre orders for these and I will have a sign up sheet to order. I will bring this in tonight and Thursday to class. Hats $20, Rash Guards $40 shorts $50.

If we can get enough ordered (75+) the price will drop to $30 and $40 hats are the same regardless of order number.

There will be a couple of proofs and styles to choose from and we can mix and match youth and adult sizes which is good.

In between the chaos this weekend. I got a chance to train with one of the MMA goats at a seminar. I got to learn new tactics on attacking the legs and some very narly chokes I will be implementing into my no gi gameplay. We are blessed whenever someone with high caliber knowledge and experience comes to our rural state to teach. I believe we should encourage and support that growth and support our fellow niche practitioners in the arts. It was a great opportunity for me and I will be passing along the knowledge, as always, to my students.
