We had a great time taking Dothan Tech Education & Training students to tour Troy University today. They had the chance to experience different aspects of campus life and were also able to meet with faculty from the College of Education to learn about the various degree options, ask questions about classes, and gain insight into preparing for the transition to college and life after Troy.

We are grateful to everyone who took time today to invest in our students.

Last week Dothan High School students had the opportunity this morning to explore dual enrollment programs offered at Dothan Tech through Wallace Community College.

They heard directly from instructors and got a firsthand look at the labs and classroom spaces where real-world skills are developed.

The visit continued with a tour of Wallace’s main campus, where students learned an important takeaway: these career pathways offer flexibility and freedom. Instructors emphasized that graduates in these fields are in demand everywhere, meaning students can choose where they want to live and build their careers with confidence.

When you gain skills that are needed everywhere, the choice of where to live becomes yours.

Dothan High School juniors wrapped up their spring college tour experience yesterday with a visit to The University of Alabama.

The day began at the Randall Welcome Center, where students explored stories of the legends who have shaped the university’s legacy. From there, they toured key parts of campus life; including recreation centers, residence halls, the student center, food court, and bookstore.

During the bus tour, students took in a broader view of campus, seeing academic buildings, sorority and fraternity row, The Quad, and Bryant-Denny Stadium.

It was a strong finish to a season of exploration, giving students a clearer vision of college life and helping them take the next step toward their future goals.

Dothan Preparatory Academy 8th graders had an incredible opportunity at Wallace Community College! They explored hands-on career pathways using the Alabama Community College System’s Innovation Center Skills for Success simulation trailer: featuring state-of-the-art equipment like a semi-truck, forklift, excavator, police vehicle, and fire truck.

Students also toured the Industrial Systems and Welding programs and experienced the Health Sciences Simulation labs, gaining real insight into a variety of high-demand career fields.

Experiences like these are invaluable in helping our students begin to envision their future and make informed decisions about their career paths. We are truly grateful Wallace investing in our students and opening doors to such meaningful opportunities.

After a great Spring Break, our students are back on the road visiting college campuses! Today, we enjoyed beautiful spring weather at the The University of South Alabama in Mobile.

Students had the opportunity to speak with and ask questions to admissions counselor Ms. Dymon Burke and Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services Mr. Matthew Cox. They also explored campus life firsthand, touring residence halls, the recreation center, and academic classrooms.

We wrapped up the visit with lunch in the student center and a stop by the campus bookstore.

Our students are truly blessed to be part of a school system that provides opportunities and funding for experiences like these. These visits play such an important role in helping them envision their future!

This outstanding event, hosted by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University’s Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Wiregrass RC&D Council, provided a full day of hands-on activities, live demonstrations, impressive equipment displays, and opportunities to connect with postsecondary institutions and industry professionals.

Students engaged with a diverse group of individuals whose careers are rooted in agriculture, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of career paths available in this essential industry.

This morning, our students are taking the Accuplacer test, an important step toward unlocking college opportunities through our partnership with Wallace Community College.

Students who meet the required scores will have the chance to become dual-enrolled, earning both high school and college credits at the same time. This means they’ll be making progress toward their high school diploma and their college degree, opening doors for their future sooner than ever.

We’re incredibly grateful to Wallace Community College for providing this life-changing opportunity for our students. Their commitment is helping shape brighter futures, one student at a time.

Carver 9 students had a hands-on touring experience at Alabama Aviation College this past Friday. Students learned about the Airframe and Powerplant programs, toured the campus, and participated in lab activities.

This was an amazing opportunity for students to see what the college has to offer and why they should consider starting dual enrollment classes through the college at Dothan Tech beginning in 10th grade.
