How Tall Can You Build It?!
As part of our Engineering Design Process lesson. Our 6th grade scientists/engineers put their engineering skills to the test this week with a Spaghetti & Marshmallow Tower STEM Challenge!
Working in teams, students were given just 20 pieces of spaghetti and 20 mini marshmallows and one goal: BUILD THE TALLEST FREESTANDING TOWER POSSIBLE!
There were plenty of creative designs, unexpected collapses, redesigns, and a whole lot of teamwork along the way! Students had to think like engineers as they planned, built, tested, failed, redesigned, and tried again.
This challenge wasn't just about building a tower—it was about problem-solving, communication, perseverance, creativity, and learning from failure.
And yes… there were some VERY impressive towers!
I am proud of our 6th graders for taking on the challenge, working together, and showing that sometimes the best way to learn science is to get your hands messy and build something!

Parents, We are super excited about seeing your kiddos Monday! Just a few reminders:

1) all drink containers must be spill proof when turned upside down
2) if you are picking your child up in Carline, you must have a tag hanging, visibly with the child’s last name and grade
3) all students in fourth through sixth grade will follow the dress code in the Houston county student handbook to cut down on confusion
4) communication devices (such as smart watches and cell phones) are not allowed on the student while on campus
5) toys, collectible cards, etc. are not allowed at school
