🏆 Short-term training. Long-term impact.

So incredibly proud that Wallace Community College - Workforce Development has been recognized as the Dothan Housing 2026 Community Partner of the Year.

This recognition represents exactly what workforce development should be about, taking training beyond the walls of the College and bringing it directly into the community where it’s needed most.

Through short-term Carpentry, Electrical, and Plumbing training, we’re helping individuals gain practical skills, build confidence, and create pathways to employment... all while strengthening the local workforce.

I’m especially thankful that I had the opportunity to share this recognition with our amazing Workforce Development team. This award belongs to them! Their dedication and commitment to our students and community partners are what make opportunities like these possible.

Thank you to Dothan Housing for this recognition and, more importantly, for trusting us to serve alongside you and make a positive impact in our community. Wallace Community College Alabama Community College System Dothan Housing Aithority ACCS Innovation Center

⚡🌙 Family Night in Our Lineworker Program!

One of the most rewarding evenings of our 8-week Lineworker Program is Family Night. Parents, spouses, children, and friends have the opportunity to see firsthand the skills their loved ones have worked so hard to develop.

From climbing poles to performing hands-on electrical tasks, our students demonstrate the knowledge, confidence, and professionalism they've gained throughout the program.

This week's training takes place at night because power outages don't only happen during the day. Our students train in realistic conditions so they're prepared to respond whenever their communities need them, day or night. 🌙

A big thank you to our instructors for preparing the next generation of lineworkers and to the families who support these students every step of the way.

At Wallace Community College, we're proud to help develop the skilled workforce that keeps our communities powered and connected. ⚡

🎓🩺 Celebrating Our Sparks Campus Certified Nursing Assistant Graduates!

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated another outstanding group of Wallace Community College – Sparks Campus Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) graduates! Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication have led them to this incredible milestone, and we couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments.

For rural communities like Eufaula and Barbour County, healthcare workforce training is more than education, it's an investment in the health and well-being of our neighbors. Every new CNA helps strengthen local healthcare providers, improves access to quality patient care, and ensures our community has the skilled professionals needed to meet the growing demand for healthcare services.

While this week marks the completion of their CNA training, it is truly just the beginning of an exciting and rewarding healthcare journey. We look forward to seeing these graduates make a lasting difference through compassionate, high-quality care for the patients and families they will serve.

A heartfelt thank you to Linda Railey and the Crowne Health Care team, as well as Medical Center Barbour for being exceptional workforce and clinical partners. Your commitment to mentoring our students and investing in local talent is making a meaningful difference.

⚡ The future of the Wiregrass workforce is being built today!

This week, our Electrical Helper students at the Izell Reese Community Center are turning classroom instruction into real-world skills. From learning how to bend conduit to wiring switches, receptacles, and lighting circuits, participants are gaining the hands-on experience needed to begin a career in the electrical trade.

What makes this program even more special is where it's happening. Thanks to an incredible partnership between Wallace Community College and the Izell Reese Community Center, and the RCX Sports Foundation, workforce training is being delivered directly in the community—making career opportunities more accessible than ever.

We're excited to watch these students continue growing their skills and can't wait to launch our Plumbing Helper class next!
