Welcoming in October and alllll things Fall!

September was a VERY busy month for us. Welcoming 9 sweet babes and supporting some amazing families. It was not the plan to support 9 births in September, but some mamas go late & some go early. We allow room in our schedule for this fluctuation as we know labor timing is so unpredictable.

The blessing of this is that now I have a slower October month. With 4 “due dates” this month, some who may flow in to November.

I’m thankful for the ebb and flow of this work. Thankful for these families who invite me in to this space. Thankful for this calling. As always, I’m just happy to be here in this space.

We welcomed this perfect & chunky little girl this afternoon! Her birth makes #8 for WWM in a little over two weeks + still waiting on one September babe.

Did you know September is one of the busiest times for birth workers (hello Christmas conception babes🙃).

In this season of busyness I’m again so thankful for my support teams, my husband & the families who allow me to be a part of it all.

Hug a birth worker this month. Send lots of love & prayers…and maybe a little coffee☕️😴

Official placenta transporter 🙃✨

This Friday includes taking this placenta to Mama’s Friend Birth Services for encapsulation, seeing clients in the office & hopefully going to get baby snuggles from a very special babe that was born this week! Throw in a quick branding session with the amazing Alabama Motherhood Photographer where I’ll have the cutest little newborn model🥹

Also-awaiting some babes to come earth side, the last of my September babes should be here so soon.

Recovering this morning from a sweet sweet birth.

I say it often- I may be tired, but my heart is full.

Birthwork is such holy work, but it’s also hard work. This week has been one of those weeks where I am pushed to my limit as a midwife. The exhaustion, the decisions, the never ending support that I pour in to my clients & their families. All of this is made so worth it with the pure joy my heart receives when I get to witness a family be born.

I left my family Tuesday night during bedtime routine and did not return until this morning. 48 hours of very limited sleep, a 7 hour sleep/nap today to then get up and respond to dozens of client texts/emails & consult requests that have been sent over the past few days. Not to mention having to reschedule 2 days worth of clients that had to be cancelled while I was attending the most special birth.

And I’m saying all of that to say thank you. Thank you to my clients who understand that this work is unpredictable & extend me so much grace as I have to reschedule their appointment or take a while to respond to messages. Thank you to my husband who steps in & takes over every aspect of our life at home and I know my kids lack nothing while I am gone. Thank you for the families who invite me in to this special place. And thank you Lord for calling me to this work & restoring me again and again.

Quick 10 minute coffee sip/couch sit before running out of the house this morning.

Today I have

An in home postpartum visit to check on a 3 day old new babe and her mama.

36 week home visit to talk through birth prep, emergency care & preparation with a sweet repeat client.

3 prenatal appointments in the office to end the work day

Unlesssss a baby decides to make their way earth side. Currently awaiting 5 sweet September babes & I can’t wait to witness these families become parents (some for the very first time)🥹

⚫️Summer 2027 blackout dates⚫️

I will not be attending any births in July 2027. We have quite an exciting summer planned, and building rest/recovery time in to my schedule is so important.

If you’re planning a home birth with WWM-be mindful of these blackout dates. Also keep in mind-the weeks surrounding July to adjust for a pregnancy that could go late or early.

Thank you all for your support and understanding when this midwife needs some down time.
