As I tell my students, do not guess! Work the problem and show your work! If you don't know the answer or are stuck, then own up to it and ask for help. Work your way through it with help then try again on your own. It is ok to have trouble or forget, but don't just guess.

I know I am getting our office ready for Fall! School starts back in less than four weeks. Kayla will be coming back to the office to work with students in person, for one day a week (after being gone for a year and a half due to maternity leave, being a new parent, and social distancing). This means she will need her office space back. She came yesterday and helped me move the library out of her office and we set the library up in a new area! It looks so bright! Pictures to come when it is finished. Now to work on her office.

Turn off the video games, tech, and TV. Get the kids outside to do/discover something then have your kids to pick up a pencil and write about it. Daily journals are a great way to for students to document their summer. Years later they can look back and see what fun things they did or saw. Make and document those memories!

Each bead stands for 20 minutes of reading by my students and each tag stands for 100 minutes of reading. As a chain gets too full to add anymore, we attach another chain. Our goal is to see how long we can make these chains. The kids are so excited when they come in, they immediately grab their "necklace" on their way into the office and whip out their sheets to show me so they can add their beads and earn tags. These are all of my students and all of the minutes they have read! I am so proud of them!

At least this person is reading! What have you read this summer? My students have been busy picking out books from my library and reading. They have a BINGO sheet that has different places to read in it. Two of the places are outside and under a tree. I do not have a park bench though. LOL! They also have a chart to keep track of how many minutes they have read. For every 20 minutes my students read, they earn a bead to add to their "necklaces" and every 100 minutes, they earn a tag. I had to order more tags because they are earning so many!! It makes me so happy when they make me have to go spend money on more tags. It means they are becoming better readers and making progress! Way to go students!!!
