🌿Announcing On-Farm Workshops at Abundant Blooms Flower Farm!🌿

This fall, for the first time, I’m opening up my flower farm for a series of small, in-person educational workshops all about growing woody shrubs for cut flowers!

One of the most helpful things I’ve done as a flower farmer is visit other flower farms.

I actually just traveled to Pennsylvania to tour another farm, and every time I have the opportunity to see how someone else grows, harvests, and runs their farm, I come home with new ideas.

There’s just something different about seeing mature plants growing in the field, being able to ask questions in real time, and seeing how another farmer actually does things.

And getting to spend a couple of hours with other flower farmers is pretty wonderful too. 😊

During this two-hour ticketed workshop, we’ll walk through Abundant Blooms Flower Farm and take an in-depth look at the woody cuts I grow and sell to florists, including smokebush, five varieties of ninebark, snowberry, viburnum, hydrangeas, and more.

We’ll talk about varieties, planting and spacing, growing, harvesting, and how I use and sell these crops in my flower farming business. I’ll demonstrate how I harvest them, and there will be plenty of time for questions and conversation along the way.

Four workshop dates are available:

🌿 August 28 | 6:00–8:00 PM
🌿 August 29 | 3:00–5:00 PM
🌿 September 11 | 5:45–7:45 PM
🌿 September 12 | 3:00–5:00 PM

Each workshop is intentionally limited to just 15 people*so we can keep it small, get up close to the plants, and have plenty of time for questions.

Tickets are already selling, and September 12 is filling especially quickly!

If you’d love the opportunity to visit another flower farm, learn more about incorporating woody shrubs into your cut flower operation, and connect with other flower farmers, I’d love to have you here!🌿

👇I’ll put the link with all the workshop details + tickets in the comments.

🌸 AUGUST and September DIY BULK FLOWER BUCKETS 🌸

Planning a wedding, shower, party, or special event this August or September?

Our DIY Bulk Flower Buckets are one of the most affordable ways to fill your event with locally grown flowers — especially if you're happy to do the arranging yourself!

Each $150 bucket includes 70+ stems of fresh, seasonal flowers and greenery grown right here at Abundant Blooms Flower Farm in Dorr, Michigan.

🌻 WHAT MIGHT BE IN YOUR BUCKET?

Late summer and early fall are incredibly abundant on the farm! Depending on what's blooming the week of your event, your bucket might include:

Cosmos
Celosia
Zinnias
Phlox
Sunflowers
Dahlias!
Beautiful Greenery in every bucket as well.

These are examples of flowers that are often blooming this time of year — they are NOT guaranteed. The photos with these post are past buckets from September.

That's part of the fun of buying locally grown flowers! Every week on the farm is a little different. I harvest the best of what's blooming and create a beautiful seasonal mix based on the color palette you select.

Choose from:
🤍 Soft & Neutral
🌈 Bright & Cheerful
🌿 White & Green

WHO ARE BULK BUCKETS FOR?

They're perfect for someone who wants LOTS of beautiful, locally grown flowers at a great price and is comfortable arranging them themselves.

Use them for weddings, bridal or baby showers, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties, church events, or just about any celebration where you need a lot of flowers!

Each bucket typically will supply 6-8 mason jars or 2-3 bouquets.

❌ WHO ARE THEY NOT FOR? ❌

These are NOT custom wedding flowers or full-service floral design.

Bulk buckets are probably NOT the right choice if you need:

• Specific flower varieties
• An exact floral recipe
• Exact shades or colors
• Custom design help
• Delivery
• Finished arrangements

The reason I can offer this much locally grown product at this price is because **we keep the process SIMPLE.**

You order and pay ahead of time.

I grow, harvest, and choose the best flowers blooming that week within your selected palette.

You pick them up.

And then YOU get to create something beautiful with them!

🌸 IMPORTANT — YOU MUST PREORDER.

All bulk buckets must be ordered and paid for ahead of time.

Please do NOT simply show up at the farm or at the flower stand hoping to pick up a bulk bucket. I harvest specifically for the orders that have been placed, and dates can sell out.

Let me tell you about some of the foliage we grow here at Abundant Blooms for the fall.

These are all great. If you condition them properly and harvest correctly these stems will all last 7-10 days in the vase.

This is a long term investment. Most of these shrubs weee planted in Aug of 2022 with. Few more added in Aug of 2024. All these shrubs are grown form 4in liners from Spring Meadow.

But now I have 1,000’a of stems.

For harvesting your stems need to be mature enough. That’s why I wait until late July and early August to harvest stems off of new growth. Otherwise they will wilt.

The trick to harvesting is to harvest first thing in the morning into hydrated solution and put a splash of quick dip into the water.

Then get them right into the cooler for 24 hours to rest before selling/transporting them.

This is one of my favorite crops and has been such a blessing to our farm and hopefully to our customers as well!

I’m so filled with gratitude to be able to be farming and sharing local flowers and foliage.

What’s your favorite fall foliage?
