This special afternoon will bring together families, alumni, friends, community partners, and supporters to honor our shared history, celebrate the children and families at the heart of our work, and look ahead to the future.

We'll also honor former Executive Director Lesley Christian for her extraordinary leadership and lasting impact on our community.

This week at Crispus Attucks Children’s Center, we’ve been celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week with daily treats and today’s staff lunch in honor of our incredible educators and team members.

Our teachers create safe, joyful, and nurturing learning environments for children and families every day. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, helping build the foundation for lifelong learning and growth.

We are deeply grateful for their commitment, compassion, and care — this week and every week.

Last week, our children celebrated the “Week of the Young Child.” It was inspiring to see their creativity, curiosity, and ambition shine throughout the week. We are grateful to be part of their growth and learning journey, and we look forward to continuing to support and celebrate them every step of the way.

Thank you to the Boston Police for the wonderful surprise of teddy bears as we celebrated Teddy Bear Day here at Crispus. Your kindness made the day even more special and brought so much joy to everyone involved.

💚 Rooted in Care, Growing in Community

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Candelaria Norma Silva, a beloved Dorchester neighbor, community activist, and children’s book author.

Candelaria had a special gift for connecting with children through storytelling.

We were honored to welcome her to Crispus Attucks Children’s Center, where she shared her stories Jump! Jump! Jump! Stacey, Stacey Became a Frog One Day, and What’s the Baby’s Name, Stacey? with our children. She joined us for our Community Festival over the past two summers. She is pictured here (right) at our 2025 Festival with other children’s authors. She brought warmth, energy, and a beautiful spirit that made a lasting impression on us all.

She will be deeply missed, and we are grateful for the time we shared with her. We hold her family, friends, and all who loved her in our thoughts.

As the year comes to a close, we’re especially grateful for your kindness and generosity. Your support has brightened children’s days, strengthened families, and helped create a safe, welcoming environment where every young learner can grow with confidence and joy.
