The Dodge City High School Biology Department was the recipient of 128 free Milkweed plants from Project Monarch Watch (Showy Milkweed, Asclepias speciosa). The plants arrived in Dodge City the evening before the last day of school, and students in Mr. Calhoun and Mr. Fawcett’s Biology classes, with some help from our amazing custodial crew, rallied to get them started in a prairie site on the west side of the DCHS campus on Thursday. We hope that these plants will establish strong roots this growing season and will thrive for years to come for future Biology classes to enjoy and learn from.

We’re proud to celebrate some incredible work from our students!

Over the past two years, students in Photojournalism and Audio/Video Production participated in the Smithsonian’s "Creating Portraits of Community" project, highlighting stories and identities from across the country. This work was completed under the direction of Mrs. Rolland and Mrs. Tiemeyer.

Their original photography and video pieces representing our community are not only featured online, but are also displayed inside the Smithsonian. What an incredible honor! They were also showcased at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson this summer.
