Last year Anderson Elementary School, Gretchen Higgins Elementary, Tremont Elementary School, and John Knight Middle School adopted a new, high quality math curriculum that will help to prepare students for advanced math at Dixon High School, college, and career.

Students and families from John Knight Middle School and Dixon High School had a great time at last night's Dixon FFA BBQ. It was the first time we have had students from our brand new JKMS Agricultural Science Bridge Program participate. Students learned about FFA Committees while moving through stations in the DHS Barn. Thank you to all involved for making last night a success!

Dixon Unified School District is implementing new high quality reading programs at Anderson Elementary School, Gretchen Higgins Elementary, and Tremont Elementary School where all students get the reading instruction that is just right from them! We're seeing incredible growth our students reading ability!

Did you know that Dixon High School started a new Child Development CTE Pathway last year that prepares students for meaningful careers working with children and families? The program expands this year into a complete Career and Technical Education pathway that prepares students for future careers.

One week ago we had our 4th annual Back to School Festival. It was easily the biggest we have ever had. A huge THANK YOU to our schools, PTOs, and community partners who made this year's Back to School Festival such a success. Also, a big THANK YOU to School Board President Julian Cuevas who led the planning for the event. Thanks to his hard work we had more activities for children and more community partners than ever before.

Our school site administrators and district office leaders continued our tradition of serving breakfast to staff on the Monday before the first day of school. This year we did something different; we gave our staff the same breakfast items our students will receive this year. They got pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, fresh strawberry and yogurt parfaits, yogurt and homemade granola, and fresh fruit. Breakfast items like these are available for free to our students every morning! Many thanks to our Food Services team for making this possible!
