Please remember that Friday’s lockdown drill is a practice drill designed to help students and staff know what to do in the event of an emergency. We will work to keep the experience calm, organized, and age-appropriate.

💚💛 Help Us Create Calming Bottles! 💛💚

In the coming weeks, Knight’s Compass will be creating calming bottles as we learn about different calming strategies. We are looking for sturdy water bottles so that each student can create their own! Bottles similar in size and sturdiness to ICE drink bottles would be perfect, but any sturdy bottles would be greatly appreciated.

🧴 Donations can be turned in to your student’s homeroom teacher.

We hope you are off to a wonderful start to the school year. Quick reminder, the Knights' Armor Food Pantry is now open for the school year. As a reminder, the pantry is open on Fridays from 9 am - 2 pm (closed on the 2nd Friday). Pick-up is by appointment only and must be made no later than 1:00 pm on Wednesday of the week you desire to pick up. Please use our School-Year Planner when scheduling family trips, appointments, and activities. Whenever possible, plan around holidays, teacher workdays, early dismissal days, and scheduled breaks to help your child miss fewer days of school. 💚💛

Altercation at Carter G Woodson Complex

We want to make our families aware of an incident that occurred this morning at the Carter G. Woodson Complex. Two adults were involved in an altercation in the drop-off line during arrival. No students or staff members were involved or harmed during the incident.

Law enforcement responded to the scene, and an ambulance was called for one of the individuals involved. Our Security Department is working closely with law enforcement and will take the lead on any additional actions or follow-up related to this incident.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue to maintain a safe environment for our school community.

We had a GREAT first full week, and we’re so excited for all the learning ahead! ⭐️

Here’s what’s happening at BES this month:
📚 Math: Place Value & Word Problems
📖 Reading: Building strong reading routines & storytelling skills
🎨 Encore: Library expectations, Dragons, and Blue Ridge Mountain art projects
💚 Attendance: New incentives, including the Woot-Woot Wagon, tie-dye shirts, foam party, and a movie trip!
🎒 Beyond the Bell: Sign-up deadline is Wednesday, August 19th

🚗💚 PT ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL REMINDERS! 💛

Help us keep arrival and dismissal safe, smooth & moving!

🌅 Arrival: 7:45–8:10 AM
• Drop-off in the PT loop at the Primary School.
• After 8:10 AM, students must be escorted to the office with a photo ID.

🌇 Dismissal: 3:10–3:30 PM
• Pick-up begins at 3:10 PM.
• Pick-up is at the bridge in front of the Primary building.
• 🚫 No parking in the PT or Bus loop from 2:30–3:30 PM.
• After 3:30 PM, check your child out through the office with your ID.

🚶 Walking your child in? Please park in a designated parking spot to avoid holding up traffic.
