Today, we learned about the French artist Henri Rousseau. We then created our own tiger looking through the jungle, with colored pencils, and then we glued leaves and grass along the borders.

Climbing snow "mountains" = FUN!

This month, we've been learning about the continent of Africa. We've studied the Great Wildebeest Migration, which is the year-long, month to month journey taken by Wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. Today we all participated in the Great Grasslands Montessori Migration. We got into groups of zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles, and we mapped out our journey.

We also sample some popular food from Africa like black beans, rice, yams, and plantains.

Our toddler classroom also had fun with their gift exchange!

We had a blast today as the children exchanged gifts.

Here's to an amazing Christmas and a Happy New Year

Today, the children enjoyed our annual Thanksgiving feast after learning about the history of Thanksgiving last week.

Fridays are generally our art days, and today we learned about the amazing Frida Kahlo and her struggles and how she became an artist.
The children also learned how to draw their very own turkey step by step.
It's been a fantastic week, and the children have been doing some incredible academic work as well.
No school Monday - Veteran's Day

Today, we learned a little bit about the voting procedure and had our own election. Our candidates were CANDY and RECESS.
CANDY won by 3 votes.

Our artist of the month for October is Ansel Adams. He was well known for his black and white photography of nature and National Parks.
Today, we completed the Ansel Adams Project. We asked the children to go out in nature and take black and white photographs. We then laminated them on card stock. The results were spectacular!
