Infants and toddlers learn by using new skills in day-to-day activities. That is how Early Intervention is different from school or therapy for older children.

The KIDS Program serves Southwest/South central North Dakota and includes the following counties: Region 8 Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope and Stark; Region 7 Burleigh, Morton, Grant, Oliver, Mercer, & Sioux. The learning that occurs for the young child is because of what happens between visits with a Primary Early Intervention Professional (PEIP). Children grow rapi

Have a safe and happy summer! ☀️🕶️

Children should always wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when in, on, or near natural bodies of water. Floaties, water wings or inflatable toys are not substitutes for life jackets – they can deflate and do not prevent drowning. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zcwocX

Today we celebrate the incredible Speech-Language Pathologists who help young children find their voices and families find confidence along the way. 💙

In Early Intervention, SLPs do so much more than support speech — they help children connect, communicate, play, express needs, and build relationships during the most important years of development.

Thank you to the dedicated professionals who empower children and coach families with patience, creativity, and compassion every single day. Your impact reaches far beyond words. 🌟

So proud to celebrate Sheri Showalter on being named one of just four Home Visitors of the Year! 🌸

Her decades of work supporting children and empowering families—through education, early intervention, and leadership—have made a lasting impact in our community. From mentoring parents to helping families build confidence, Sheri truly embodies what it means to serve with heart.

Congratulations, Sheri! So well deserved. The KIDS Program is lucky to have you! 💛

We had the privilege of celebrating someone truly exceptional—Sheri Showalter 💐

Sheri was honored as one of just four Home Visitors of the Year by the Home Visiting Coalition, a recognition that speaks volumes about her impact on families and our communities.

With a career spanning education, early intervention, and leadership, Sheri has dedicated decades to supporting children and empowering parents. From her early work with Right Track screenings to her current role as Assistant Director for Region 8, she has worn many hats—educator, evaluator, trainer, and mentor—all with the same passion for helping families thrive.

Sheri’s commitment goes beyond professional excellence. She is trained in infant massage, holds an Early Childhood Leadership Certificate from UND, and continually finds ways to give back and uplift others.

Perhaps the most meaningful reflection of her work comes from the families she serves. Greta Schweitzer, who nominated Sheri, shared:

“I am a far more confident parent because of Sheri’s work with our family. She has taught us so much, and having supported all four of our children, she is uniquely able to remind us of strategies we’ve used successfully across different stages and personalities. She consistently reassures us that we are capable, that we know our children and are doing the right things.”

Sheri, your dedication, compassion, and leadership make a lasting difference. We are proud to celebrate you and grateful for the impact you make every day. Congratulations! 👏
