A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for most of western and much parts of southern North Dakota from late Wednesday morning through early Wednesday evening. Any fires that ignite could spread rapidly and become difficult to control.

Keep an eye on the mail—our 2026 W**d Control Newsletter is heading your way with some important updates to the Landowner Assistance Program.
To make sure we’re keeping up with the county right-of-way spraying, we’re moving to Designated Pickup Dates for herbicides this year.
To make things easier, we've also put everything on the county website. You can view the 2026 Newsletter and pickup calendar online, and even submit your cost-share application directly from your phone or computer.

🌿 Important Update: 2026 Spraying Season
The Stark County W**d Control Board is shifting focus to roadside spraying this year, which means some changes for the Landowner Assistance Program (LAP).
✅ Cost-Share Still Available: Landowners can still get eligible herbicides at a reduced rate (70% County / 30% Landowner).
🗓️ New Process: All herbicide pickups are now BY APPOINTMENT ONLY DURING DESIGNATED PICKUP DATES.
🌱 Spring Window: The first pickup window runs from April 15 – May 22.
To get on the schedule, please submit your application to Jo at the office. We recommend booking early so you're ready to spray as soon as conditions are favorable!
