The History Center is sad to hear of the passing of friend and supporter William Temple Webber, III (Temp) earlier this month. A great-great-grandson of Diboll founder T. L. L. Temple, Temp was involved in Diboll’s library and archives from childhood.
In 1964, he cut the ceremonial ribbon officially dedicating Diboll’s T. L. L. Temple Memorial Library (photo 3) and then the T. L. L. Temple Memorial Archives in 1985 (photo 4). He later used the same scissors to cut the ribbon officially opening The History Center on May 1, 2003 (photo 1) as well as T. L. L. Temple Memorial Library’s rededication in 2009 (photo 2). Temp donated the scissors to The History Center in 2003.
Family and philanthropy were very important to him, and he took his connection to East Texas and Diboll seriously, giving his time and efforts to The T. L. L. Temple Foundation and other causes.
We will miss Temp’s visits and his dedication to The History Center and his family’s legacy in East Texas, and we offer our condolences to his family and friends.

Twenty five years ago today, Diboll school children and other members of the community joined together to break ground for The History Center. In the last quarter century, The History Center has been proud to collect, preserve, and make available the history of Diboll, Angelina County, and the wider area. We are grateful for all of those whose vision led to the groundbreaking ceremony and those who have served with us, visited us, donated to us, and supported us as we fulfill our mission. Here's to at least twenty five more years!
