Arugula!!!

Planted in the cold frame greenhouse late November of 2020 this arugula is close to a springrime harvest in Southeast Michigan.

Absolutely love how the coldframe expands my gardening.

10 weeks out till our last frost in Southeast Michigan...

Order 23 different species of plants for the 2021 garden months ago from seed sale.

We can't wait to have some to eat this season.

8 more inches of snow last night. Sunshine for the cold frame seedlings too.

Definitely need to plant the seeds earlier in fall, little to no growth since mid December.

Got some action in the coldframe in late December in Southeast Michigan.

The arugula and spinach have sprouted. Can't wait to harvest in January.

What a show!

The variegated forsythia puts on quite a display throughout the growing season.

From the bright yellow flowers in Spring covering the plant to the return of the bright yellow flowers in the Autumn sparsely this shrub puts on a show in the landscape.

The foliage follows the Spring blossoms and displays a brilliant white variegation throughout the summer. Once the temperatures cool in the Autumn the leaves darken to a beautiful shade of maroon.

The biggest harvest of the raised garden beds and cold frame garden of the season. Brought on my an early frost. 🥶

The Black Cherry Tomatoes have been producing for awhile now and I have loved sharing them.

The sweet corn was a surprise as the last harvest of them yield many unpollinated ears.

From the cold frame garden we are getting a bounty of Rainbow Carrots that will be used quickly in our house. The Red Lettuce had finally reached a point where we could harvest it and enjoy it for lunch, yum.

Last but not least is the Swiss Chard that has been the top producer in the raised beds for months. We still have quite a bit left and look forward to making a delicious dish with this harvest and likely sharing some too.

The season is coming to an end and we are already planning for 2021 and reviewing the issues. What are you working on for 2021?

BIG HOSTA!!
I MEAN HUGE!!!

I may not be the biggest guy out there, but this Blue Angel Hosta is one massive specimen. The leaves are easily bigger than my head.

Giant hostas are great way to make an impact in a shade perennial garden.

Cantaloupe and Watermelon from the garden. 🍉

While it is a super rewarding feeling I certainly have more to learn and much more to practice to be trully satisfied with the results.

A bit small and greatly affected by squash bugs and cucumber beetle we were thankfully able to have a taste of our gardening efforts.

What are your best practices for some good melon?

Its the time of the year when our bee friends flock to the hot pinks in the landscape. 🐝

Sedum spectabile or Tall Sedum never disappoints in the garden.

Tell us in the comments what your favorite cultivar is? 'Autumn Joy' is shown here.
