Greg Mathis Stoddard County Presiding Commissioner A life-long Stoddard County resident, I am proudly serving Rebels, Indians, Hornets, Cubs, Wildcats, Mules and Bearcats as Presiding Commissioner!

I am a life-long resident of Stoddard County and have been associated with the Mathis Funeral Homes in Bernie and Dexter for the past forty four years. I have been married to the former Lisa Coffey for forty-five years. We have two sons, Dr. Eric Mathis who currently resides in Washington, DC and Aaron and wife Brittany Mathis who live in Dexter. ho was born in October of 2012 and a son Blake who was born in December of 2015. I have served Stoddard County as Deputy Coroner,Coroner and as Presiding Commissioner. While serving as Presiding Commissioner, I have had the opportunity to work with five associate commissioners. My relationship with those commissioners has allowed Stoddard County to be financially sound and the envy of County Commissioners in the Southeast Missouri District. As always, I am available to speak to clubs, school groups or to county residents in person.

We had a nice crowd for our 16th Christmas Reading this past Saturday! Mr. Phil Dawson was our guest reader and we certainly appreciate his help with making the Reading a success! We still have a few "LIMITED EDITION" Dexter Christmas Reading bracelets handcrafted by local Artisan "H"! She handed out over 250 bracelets and if you would like one, give me a holler! (FREE) We will have more pictures in the coming days and I would certainly like to have any pictures that those in attendance took !

Tomorrow night, November 30, our 16th annual Christmas Reading will be held on Stoddard Street in Downtown Dexter! The hay bales are set for seating, hot chocolate, Ms Menley's homemade cookies, ten solo stoves and Lulu's fermented cider! Most importantly, the Reading of the 2nd Chapter of Luke, the birth of our Savior! The Crowley Ridge Mennonite Choir will begin singing at 540 with introduction of our guest reader at 600 PM. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and enjoy our home town, Hallmark, Christmas gathering!!

Blessings to all on Thanksgiving! In two nights, Saturday, November 30th, we will have our 16th Dexter Christmas Reading!
