Early Childhood Development Program at the JCC of Syracuse

Early Childhood Development Program at the JCC of Syracuse The Early Childhood Development Program offers children 6 weeks of age through Pre-K an array of activities designed to encourage their love of learning.

The JCC's Early Childhood Development Program prides itself on quality early childhood education. We utilize the Creative Curriculum in all of our classrooms. The Creative Curriculum is a NY State approved curriculum that aligns with the early learning guidelines and Common Core standards. The Creative Curriculum focuses on the four areas of development; social emotional, physical, cognitive and l

anguage. Children are learning through play and intentional lessons and activities. Our infants toddlers and twos focus on 5 routines; hellos and goodbyes, diapering and toileting, eating and mealtime, sleeping and nap time, and getting dressed, and 8 experiences; playing with toys, enjoying stories and books, connecting with music and movement, creating with art, tasting and preparing food, exploring sand and water and going outdoors. Our preschool children learn using the 10 different interest areas; blocks, dramatic play, toys and games, art, library, discovery, sand and water, music and movement, cooking and computers. Math, literacy, science, social studies, the arts and technology are woven into everyday lessons whether it be in large group, small group or individual instruction. In addition to using the Creative Curriculum, our program uses Teaching Strategies Online Gold for assessment. Each classroom teacher shares weekly lesson plans with families through the Online Gold system. Each child has an online portfolio that parents can view and have access to different reports, i.e. the Development & Learning Report. Our program holds 2 parent teacher conferences throughout the year. During this time teachers and parents are able to discuss children's progress, strengths and areas of growth. Communication between home and school is an important part of our program. Our lead teachers are NY state qualified. Our program is licensed through NY state Office of Children and Family Services. All staff are run through 3 different background checks.

The Jewish Community Center of Syracuse is already such a special place, where the word community feels a lot more like family. ❤️

This time of year, with summer camp in full swing, that feeling becomes even stronger. Counselors who were once campers themselves are now leading a new generation through exciting experiences, creating memories, and watching lifelong friendships grow—just as they did when they were campers.

Our community, our camp, is a place where milestones big and small are celebrated together, and there are few milestones more exciting than a wedding! 💍💕

When our campers and counselors heard that our very own School Age Program Manager, Kevin, was getting married this past July, they wanted to celebrate this special moment right alongside him. The campers created the invitations, and our counselors worked together to make the event of the summer a memorable one for everyone—including, of course, the beautiful bride and groom! 🎉

We are so happy for Kevin and his beautiful bride and wish them a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and countless wonderful memories. We are grateful that they let our JCC family celebrate this special moment right alongside them! ❤️

Another year, another incredible Tzofim Caravan performance! 🌟 This show is always one of the highlights of Camp Romano's summer, bringing our entire camp community together. From the time summer starts the campers and counselors eagerly await the big day—and once the music starts, everyone is on their feet singing, dancing, and celebrating together. Thank you, Tzofim Caravan, for another unforgettable performance and memories we'll cherish all summer long! 💙🎶

As the final week of school comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible year we've shared and all that our children have accomplished. From infants taking their first steps, to toddlers eagerly exploring the world around them, to preschoolers building friendships, and our Pre-K students preparing for their next adventure in kindergarten—each child has grown in their own unique and remarkable way.

Thank you to the families who have entrusted us with the privilege of guiding their children through their first years of learning. We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated teachers, whose hard work, patience, and care have created a nurturing environment where children can flourish every day.

Enjoy photos of our graduates, many of whom we have had the joy of watching grow from tiny infants into the confident kindergarteners they are about to become. We couldn't be more proud of all they have accomplished, and we can't wait to see all that lies ahead for them.
