Monday night’s Board of Education meeting was a wonderful celebration of student achievement and strong community partnerships!

Dayna Cantu kicked off the highlights with a look at Project-Based Learning at Herbison Woods Elementary, where our 5th-grade "Agents of Change" did an extraordinary job sharing their work from the Michigan Landmarks Showcase. These student surveyors put their hard work on full display, presenting impressive scale math, scientific observations, and detailed Field Guides to guest evaluators. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who visited Herbison Woods to ask thoughtful questions, review their work, and leave encouraging feedback for our young leaders!

We were also honored to have Stephanie Sanchez introduce the DeWitt Ox Roast Royalty to the school board and community. A big congratulations to this year's royalty: Little Royal Grace Otori, Youth Royal Claire Shoemaker, and Junior Royal Sofia Barber!

Last week, Scott School students tied their laces up and took in the fresh air for Walk to School Day!

It truly takes a village to pull off an event like this, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this morning safe, smooth, and full of fun for our Scott School students.

🚓 DeWitt Area Fire Department & DeWitt Police Department: A big shout-out to Chief Braska, Chief Curtis, and their departments for their continued support, presence, and dedication to keeping our students and community safe!

🚶‍♂️ Walking School Bus Volunteers: A special thank-you to Holli and Addi Schoonover and all our volunteers for guiding our students along the route with so much energy, enthusiasm, and fun.

🎉 DeWitt PTA & Event Volunteers: Thank you to the DeWitt PTA and Amanda Wolff for seamlessly coordinating our incredible volunteers. To every single volunteer who gave their time and energy—you are simply the best!

📋 Scott School Office Staff & Administration: Gratitude to Cindy Brushaber, Amanda Stenz, and Linda Reha for the weeks of behind-the-scenes planning, organization, and preparation that made everything run seamlessly.

🚌 DeWitt Transportation Department: Thank you for your flexibility in adjusting bus drop-off locations and helping our students feel comfortable and excited to participate.

🎒 Scott School Families: A huge thank-you to all the parents and families who dropped off their children at the footbridge. We know mornings can be hectic, and we truly appreciate your patience, flexibility, and support.

Last week, history was made right here at DeWitt High School as our Panthers took the field alongside the Clinton County RESA Cougars for our first-ever Unified Flag Football Game! 💙🏈

From the opening kickoff, the energy in the stadium was incredible. We loved welcoming the Cougars to our home field, and we give a huge shoutout to CCRESA’s Business Management & Entrepreneurship students for designing the Cougars' awesome jerseys for the big day!

More than just a game, this event highlighted what makes our community special: teamwork, sportsmanship, and true inclusion. We are so proud of all the student-athletes who participated and grateful for our strong partnership with CCRESA.

Here’s to the start of an inspiring new tradition. We can’t wait to host again in the years ahead! 💙✨
