Central DeWitt is a comprehensive school district in east-central Iowa serving grades PK-12. All schools are located in DeWitt, and we proudly serve the communities and surrounding areas of Welton, Low Moor, Grand Mound, and DeWitt. Our school district is located at the crossroads of US Highways 61 & 30, which is a convenient 20 miles north of the Quad Cities. Our school district consists of four

🚌 The first day of school is Monday which means our buses will be out in full force! This diagram is an important reminder of when and where vehicles are required by law to stop for school buses.

Passing a stopped school bus jeopardizes the safety of our students and bus drivers. Please help keep our students and drivers safe by following these rules and sharing this post.

What a great night at Central DeWitt! Our halls were packed with excitement as families came together for Unpack Your Backpack Night and got ready for a new school year.

It was good to see students reconnect with friends, families meet teachers, and our buildings come alive with the energy that comes with a new beginning. There were plenty of smiles, familiar faces and enthusiasm for what’s ahead.

SCHOOL MENUS
Wondering what’s on the menu? Families can find Central DeWitt school breakfast and lunch menus through My School Menus. Check daily options, view nutrition information and ingredients, and filter by allergens or dietary preferences.

🥛 FREE & REDUCED-PRICE MEAL APPLICATIONS
This program helps ensure students have access to healthy, balanced meals to keep them fueled, focused and ready to learn throughout the school day.

Families are encouraged to complete a Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application. Eligibility is based on your current household income and family size, and applications can be submitted at any time during the school year if your circumstances change.

Once approved, eligibility remains in place for the remainder of the current school year and, if needed, continues through the first month of the following school year.

🚗🚌 UPDATE: We appreciate those who have reached out with questions and concerns about the new traffic flow for the upcoming school year. We’ve listened to that feedback and also sent a survey to CDIS and CDMS families to gather additional input. Based on that information, we’ve made some updates.

This is a new process for all of us, and we appreciate your patience the first few weeks of school as we monitor traffic and continue to make adjustments to work toward a safer and smoother arrival and dismissal experience for everyone.

🚗 MIDDLE SCHOOL DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Middle school families should use the inner circle of the CDIS/CDMS parking lot

🚗INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Intermediate school families should use the outer lane, formerly used as the bus lane.

🚌 BUS LOADING & UNLOADING
All buses will load and unload in the north parking lot loop between the high school and back of the intermediate school. We’ve included a map showing where buses will be located, along with the bus number and driver’s name. Please note that bus numbers and driver assignments are subject to change based on transportation needs.

EICC ORIENTATION REMINDER: CDHS students taking EICC college credit courses this fall—academy, online, or in-person—must attend one mandatory orientation session. Orientation will take about one hour.

Two convenient options:
📅 Thursday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m.
📍 CDHS Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center
Recommended for online students, students taking in-person courses at CDHS, and Maquoketa Academy students—but all students are welcome.

📅 Friday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m.
📍 DeWitt Career Advancement Center
817 E. Industrial St., DeWitt
Recommended for DeWitt Academy students—but all students are welcome.

Before attending, students should also log in to EICC Connect and review their class registrations, times, locations and other course information. Refresher login instructions have been emailed, and login information will also be sent in a reminder.

💜💛 Yesterday, Central DeWitt teachers and staff came together to begin a new school year and celebrate the choice each of us makes every day—not only in how we show up, but in how we show our Saber Spirit.

It’s more than purple and gold. Saber Spirit comes to life in the way we support our students, families and one another—in the way we choose to celebrate successes, learn from mistakes, lead with understanding, encourage one another, embrace challenges and remind everyone that they belong here.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a team of people who bring that spirit to their work each day. Their dedication, compassion and commitment to our students and one another are what make Central DeWitt such a special place to learn, work and grow.

As we begin another year, here’s to choosing our students, choosing each other and choosing to bring our very best Saber Spirit to all that we do.
