Small Animal Acupressure

Our smaller companions have bodies with stories, too.

The aging dog who doesn't spring up quite as quickly.

The athlete whose body works hard every weekend.

The anxious animal who has difficulty settling.

The companion whose needs change with the seasons of life.

Acupressure offers us a gentle, non-invasive way to support animals while also deepening our awareness of the whole individual.

Perhaps that's one of the most beautiful things about this work:
Sometimes our hands aren't there to do more.
They're there to listen more carefully.

What if an animal's body isn't only mechanical and biochemical—but also electrical, magnetic and responsive to fields around it?

Join me and Kim Kizzier Sherrodd, LMT as we explore animal energy fields, plasma, bodywork, intuition and emerging science.

Equine Acupressure

A point is never just a point.

One of the beautiful things about Acupressure & Traditional Chinese Medicine is that it invites us to look beyond the isolated symptom and consider the whole horse.

Patterns.
Relationships.
Movement.
Energy.
Environment.
Season.
Emotion.
Individual constitution.

Acupressure gives the practitioner a map, but the horse standing in front of us tells us where the journey begins.

This is one reason we love teaching Equine Acupressure at SchoolAIT.
It asks us to study deeply while remaining curious enough to meet each animal as the individual who shows up beneath our hands.

Equine Bodywork

The horse doesn't have to be injured to benefit from bodywork.
Long before an obvious problem appears, the body may already be adapting.

A horse can compensate for an old injury, an unbalanced hoof, repetitive movement, training demands, tack, posture or simply the accumulated effects of living and working in a body.

Thoughtful equine bodywork gives us an opportunity to listen to those patterns through our hands.

We can observe. We can feel. We can support healthy movement. And perhaps most importantly, we can become better at recognizing what the horse is communicating before it has to shout.

This is why we believe equine bodywork belongs not only in rehabilitation, but in the larger conversation about lifelong equine wellness.

Although we might have an initial goal that we are working toward in an equine bodywork session, we often don’t know that the end result will look like until it happens. We don’t have to know the answers, but rather notice and then attend to what we notice as various imbalances continue to present themselves.

Our equine bodywork and massage courses are grounded in quality science backed knowledge yet centered around empathy and intuition. We strive to support and help students learn how to “feel”, gain empathy, and mostly to believe in themselves.

Let’s talk, equine bodyworkers… 🤍🐴

What made you choose this path?

Was it one horse?
A moment that changed how you saw movement or pain?
A mentor who opened your eyes to what’s possible?
Or that feeling when a horse softens under your hands and you just know you’re exactly where you’re meant to be?

We know most people don’t find this work by accident. There’s usually a story, something from the heart that brought you here.

So, what was it for you?
💬 What started your journey into equine bodywork?
💬 What keeps you here?

We'd love to hear your story. ⬇️

I used to think trust was something
you built with time.

Enough visits.
Enough treats.
Enough soft words
said in a soft voice.

But a horse taught me
trust is built in the in-between moments —
the way I walked into the barn
on the day everything in my life felt heavy,
and didn't try to hide it.

The way I let my shoulders drop
before I ever touched him.
The way I stopped needing
him to be anything other
than exactly who he was
that day.

He didn't trust my hands first.
He trusted my honesty.

And once that door opened,
everything else —
the touch, the technique, the training —
simply walked through it.
