Hangers4Hope Hangers 4 Hope is about bringing The ARTS back to Detroit Elementary schools kids. A friend of one of our members at the CAT came to one of our events.

Something happen to me (Nina) the other day that really lit a fire under my rump and I feel compelled to do something. My son started an Art and Technology Community Center called Creative Arts and Technology Center or CAT for short. She is a music teacher at a Detroit public elementary school. She asked me if I had any spare art supplies for the art teacher, as the only thing the kids have to do

in their art class is coloring book pages. That really saddened me, and then she told me that many of her kids are homeless, that broke my heart. I told her, of course I would do something. I told her I don’t have much but I could come out and do something with the kids, she said “what are you doing Thursday?” As we were talking I came up with an idea, which stemmed from an article I read about a guy who traded one red paper clip up to a house. I thought why can’t, we do something similar to that to get much needed supplies for Detroit elementary schools. My friend makes miniature hangers out of paper clips and “Hanger 4 Hope” was born. I went to my neighbors here in the Russell and I am pleased to say that everyone I have spoken to has agreed to generously do something for their hangers. One of our neighbors is a printer, and he has agreed to print out business card with all of the information about our cause, so we can have something to affix the hangers to. I have already received some paints, paper and other art supplies for the kid from another neighbor. I have started a piece of artwork that I hope to eventually auction off for the children. I will upload pictures as the piece progresses. If anyone is interested in trading for a hanger of your own to keep the arts in our schools, contact me @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hangers4Hope or

(Nina) I have been informed that I am to be honored with the "Spirit of Detroit" Award for our teams work on behalf of Hangers for Hope. I am truly speechless and floored by this. However, I am not the one who should be honored. The whole team of people that got the "Creative Youth Detroit" event together in such a short time are the real heroes here. I could not thank them enough for all they did. Michael Lapp took the lead and ran with it Tim, Alex X3, DJ, Cody, Aija, theyellowwall.org, Alvah, Printing On Call... there were so many that made this happen. They all deserve great praise. This was a big team effort and I am sorry if I missed anyone. I love you all.

Creative Youth Detroit 1.25.15. What if we told you that your creativity has an IQ? What if we told you that since 1990, human creative intelligence has diminished by 40 percent? Unfortunately…these are the facts, but Detroit Native Nina Wroblewski wants to change that statistic. “I met a lady tha…
