Something happen to me (Nina) the other day that really lit a fire under my rump and I feel compelled to do something. My son started an Art and Technology Community Center called Creative Arts and Technology Center or CAT for short. She is a music teacher at a Detroit public elementary school. She asked me if I had any spare art supplies for the art teacher, as the only thing the kids have to do
in their art class is coloring book pages. That really saddened me, and then she told me that many of her kids are homeless, that broke my heart. I told her, of course I would do something. I told her I don’t have much but I could come out and do something with the kids, she said “what are you doing Thursday?” As we were talking I came up with an idea, which stemmed from an article I read about a guy who traded one red paper clip up to a house. I thought why can’t, we do something similar to that to get much needed supplies for Detroit elementary schools. My friend makes miniature hangers out of paper clips and “Hanger 4 Hope” was born. I went to my neighbors here in the Russell and I am pleased to say that everyone I have spoken to has agreed to generously do something for their hangers. One of our neighbors is a printer, and he has agreed to print out business card with all of the information about our cause, so we can have something to affix the hangers to. I have already received some paints, paper and other art supplies for the kid from another neighbor. I have started a piece of artwork that I hope to eventually auction off for the children. I will upload pictures as the piece progresses. If anyone is interested in trading for a hanger of your own to keep the arts in our schools, contact me @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hangers4Hope or

Thanks for listening and share and spread this like the plague!
