📣 Mainers who receive SNAP benefits and lost food due to power outages in this week’s storm may be eligible for replacement SNAP benefits!📣

To be eligible, residents must be without power for at least eight hours. DHHS will verify power outage and if the SNAP household is eligible, DHHS will replace up to one month’s worth of SNAP benefits.

Claims must be filed with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) within 10 days of having electricity restored to the home. Call Maine DHHS at 855-797-4357 and/or visit https://bit.ly/3RMXNZY to complete a form to file a claim.

A Food Mobile Event will be happening on Wednesday, November 15 starting at 8:30 am. Pre-boxed food and fresh produce will be available free and open to all at the Dow Building Parking Lot located on the Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital campus (425 North Main Street, Pittsfield). The event will start at 8:30 am and go until supplies run out. To enhance safety and convenience, this will be a drive-up event and staff will place food directly into vehicle trunks. Limit of two families per vehicle.

Sebasticook Valley Hospital is proud to partner with the Good Shepherd Food Bank, Danforth’s Hometown Supermarket, and Walpole Woodworkers to help families and individuals in need by bringing a Food Mobile to Pittsfield. The Food Mobile is a “pantry on wheels” that delivers high-quality, nutritious food to communities across Maine.

Anna Field Fernald Library has free books to give to the first 30 kids that come visit The Detroit Town Office in costume for Halloween. The office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30-6:00 come show us your costumes!
