The Aitkin branch of Kinetic Defense LLC will present their MN Permit to Carry course hosted by Wealthwood Rod & Gun Club on June 20th at 10 am. This course meets the minimum basic requirements for the MN Permit to Carry and covers holster firearm and ammunition selection, use of force laws, and defensive considerations when carrying a handgun for personal defense. Participants of any skill level are welcome but must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Minnesota drivers license or state ID to participate. Cost is $120 with a portion going to support the range. Class will take approx. 6hrs to complete and students who attend must bring eye protection, hearing protection, a baseball style hat, their own firearm in good repair, and 50 rounds of ammunition. If you do not have your own firearm, a 9mm handgun will be available for rent. You must provide your own ammunition.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance by following the link but walk ins are welcome! Registering secures your place in the class and ensures we have enough course materials on hand.

The Aitkin branch of Kinetic Defense LLC will present AR-15/MSR for home defense, hosted at Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club, on 5/16/2026. Cost is $120 per student, which includes range fee, and will cover the AR-15 family of rifles, its components and accessories, care, cleaning, disassembly, basic handling, relevant MN laws, and defensive considerations when choosing a rifle for home defense. Participants can be at any skill level but must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Minnesota drivers license or state ID to participate. Course will be held at the Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club and will take approx. 6hrs to complete. Students who attend must bring eye protection, hearing protection, their own firearm in good repair, and 60 rounds of ammunition for the drills portion of this course. If you do not have a firearm one will be available for rent. Class starts at 10:00 am and will take approx. 6hrs to complete. Class starts at 10:00 am and will take approx. 6hrs to complete. Cost is $120 per student, includes range fee, and will cover deployment of the modern defensive shotgun in home defense roles, its components and accessories, care and cleaning, relevant MN laws, and defensive considerations when choosing a shotgun for home defense. Participants at any skill level are welcome but must be at least 18 years old and posses a valid Minnesota drivers license or state ID to participate. Students who attend must bring eye protection, hearing protection, their own firearm in good repair, and 75 rounds of ammunition (50 Bird shot, 20 buckshot, 5 slugs).
