But many students don’t have that same ability, and when they step into the classroom, it feels like entering a foreign land. At home and with friends, they’re immersed in their culture, but in school, the curriculum, the teacher, and the lesson plan often don’t reflect who they are.Culturally responsive teaching and culturally driven lesson plans don’t just bridge the gap they affirm identity, unlock comprehension, and allow students to be successful in the classroom. QUESTION: Do you think teachers should create a balance when using code switching in the classroom to build stronger connections with their students?
