September is Library Card Sign - Up Month!

This was launched by the American Library Association in 1987 to encourage every child to get a library card as an essential school tool!

For the month of September, the De Soto Public Library will be offering a $5 discount to any Non - Resident individuals that want to sign up for a library card!

**Non Resident students of the De Soto School District ( this includes Sunrise and St. Rose ) can sign up for a library card for free at any time, we just ask that you provide proof of enrollment for each student signing up for a library card.

When you sign up for a library card, you don't just get access to our library. You can also access tons of different resources such as Hoopla and Libby, which are free apps that allows you to borrow eBooks, digital audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music from your public library!

If anyone is getting rid of any outdoor playhouses this summer, please consider contacting the Early Childhood Center. We have some ideas to spruce up our gym and create a little town. Any donations or low cost houses would be appreciated!

What is Parents as Teachers?

Missouri Parents as Teachers (PAT) Parent Education Programs support families during one of the most important times in a child’s life from prenatal to kindergarten entry. Research on Missouri’s Parents as Teachers program shows strong data results, including improved school attendance and higher achievement in reading and math by third grade.

The PAT Parent Education Program is voluntary and FREE for all Missouri families through their local school districts. They focus on helping children grow up healthy, safe, and ready to learn, while giving families the tools and confidence to support their child’s development every step of the way.

Home visiting services help families build strong foundations for success. Parent educators provide support for families to gain a better understanding of how their child grows and learns. This helps families feel more confident in their role and encourages them to be active partners in their child’s education.
