Automation only works when the workflow is clear.
I recently got to help improve an interpreter evaluation workflow for CCSLI—handling video submissions, authentication, recording validation, and automated processing. But the biggest challenge wasn't the technology. It was designing a process people could navigate confidently from start to finish.
The highest-impact improvements weren't flashy features. They were the quiet operational decisions: guiding users through each step, catching errors before they happened, and keeping the whole experience accessible and easy to use.
A system can technically "work" and still create friction if the experience isn't intuitive. That's why I always start with the people and the process first.
If your team has a system that works but still feels clunky, that's usually a workflow problem—not a tech problem.
