๐ชจ๐พ Bringing the Neolithic Age to lifeโฆ one flatbread at a time! ๐พ๐ชจ
Last week, Mrs. Whitfieldโs classes took history out of the textbook and into the kitchen! ๐ฉโ๐ณ๐จโ๐ณ
As they learned about the Neolithic Revolution and how people transitioned from hunting and gathering to farming and permanent settlements, her social studies classes got to experience a little piece of history themselves by making their own Neolithic-inspired flatbread!
Students discussed how the development of agriculture allowed people to grow grains, produce their own food, and eventually establish permanent communities. Then, each student got to mix, shape, and cook their own flatbread using simple ingredients similar to those available to early farming communities.
A little flour, a little history, and a whole lot of fun! ๐
Thereโs just something about letting students experience history firsthand that makes the learning stick! And when a lesson ends with something you can eat, it's automatically a win! ๐๐พ
