Wildheart Nature School Tuning human awareness to Earth's harmony
www.wildheartnatureschool.com Time and play in nature is more important than most parents realize.

Wildheart Nature School offers transformational outdoor experiences in an enriching, educational, and fun environment. We teach a variety of homeschool, afterschool, weekend, field trip, and summer programs for children ages 2 – 13 at locations such as Juniper Jungle Farm, Dillon Falls, and Skyliner Lodge. Of the many moons humans have walked upon this planet, only in recent years have we spent so

much time indoors with televisions, phones, and computers that enable us to become increasingly removed from material and social reality. There have been countless studies in recent years illuminating why spending time outdoors is vital for children’s development. According to the articles in Children and Nature: Psychological, Sociocultural, and Evolutionary Investigations edited by Peter Kahn and Stephen Kellert, during and after outdoor experiences, children experience higher levels of mental, emotional, and physical health, better concentration, greater interpersonal skills, increased self-discipline, more advanced problem-solving skills, less stress, and enhanced creativity among many other benefits. At Wildheart, we believe that every adventure into the woods is an exercise in imagination and opens the door for a compelling story to be woven. Our students learn how to speak the language of nature that is innate to their ancestral heritage, giving them access to a world of mystery, adventure, and discovery. We transform the experience of being outdoors into an opportunity for learning through observation, artistic expression, and active imagination. By asking the right questions at the right moments, we teach our students how to engage Mother Nature and to go deeply into her mysteries. Our programs encourage children to open to their own understanding of nature, directly leading to increased self-confidence, empowerment, and deep connection with the natural world. Although we teach factual information about the environment in our school, we also emphasize the importance of simply feeling the aliveness in nature. We support transpersonal growth through physical, emotional, and spiritual activities. Topics discussed include nature arts & crafts, sensory awareness, primitive skills, survival skills, tracking, ecology, community building, plant identification, uses of plants, and farm skills. Before you leave, make sure to subscribe to our mailing list and receive Wildheart’s Four-Season Guide to Outdoor Activities and Crafts, fun newsletters, and information on upcoming events! 🌲 Adventure. Skill. Confidence. Connection. 🏹🔥

Looking for a homeschool program where your child can spend their days outdoors, build real-life skills, and develop a deep connection with nature?

This year, Wildheart Nature School’s Founder, Rainbow Dreamer, will be personally leading both of our homeschool programs:

🏹 Thursday Wilderness Adventure & Archery

Children explore a new wild location each week, harvesting seasonal plants, observing wildlife, crafting with natural materials, and practicing archery. Along the way, they build focus, confidence, coordination, creativity, and a lifelong relationship with the natural world.

🔥 Friday Bushcraft Academy

From shelter building and fire-making to safe knife skills and wilderness survival techniques, children gain practical outdoor skills while developing resilience, teamwork, self-reliance, and confidence. Every week, the landscape becomes our classroom as we explore a new outdoor location.

These programs are designed for families who want their children learning through real experiences—not just reading about them.

🍃 Interested in learning more? Book a discovery call with us to see if Wildheart is the right fit for your family. We’d love to connect!

Wow... where did the summer go?! ☀️

We can’t believe we’re already down to our final 2 summer camp spots of the season! 🤯

If you’ve been hoping to join us, this is your last chance. Hobbit & Faerie Finders (August 10–14) has just 2 spots remaining for ages 6-10! 🌸

Children will spend the week exploring enchanted forests, building fairy homes, searching for woodland magic, creating nature-inspired crafts, playing imaginative games, and making unforgettable summer memories. 🍄‍🟫

Concerned about smoke? We’ve got a plan! Our primary location is Skyliner Lodge (which can fit up to two of our groups), and if air quality requires us to move indoors, we additionally have backup locations secured at High Desert Museum and Tula Movement Arts Studio. Our goal is to provide a dependable camp experience, even if we need to shift locations. 💨

If you’ve been waiting to register, now’s the time! 🍄🧚‍♀️

🌊 Dive into the magic of our Mythic Merfolk theme at Skyliner Lodge! 🧜✨

Our Mythic Merfolk Summer Camp is coming up August 3–7 for ages 6–10, where children will discover the wisdom of water through nature, storytelling, creativity, and play.

💙 Water teaches us to flow, have fun, cleanse, and find balance.

During this unforgettable week, campers will:
🐸 Explore riparian plants, animals, and water-loving critters
🌲 Build magical riverside homes for fantasy creatures
🌎 Discover merfolk legends from cultures around the world
🎶 Sing songs and share stories together
💦 Splash, play, and spend plenty of time enjoying the water!

Curious about our river safety ground rules? Here they are:

1. Kids wear water shoes when playing in the river 💦
2. Kids only play up to their knees in the water 💦
3. Skipping rocks is limited to an instructor-led activity 💦
4. Kids stay within sight of teachers at all times and teachers are constantly doing head counts 💦

Don’t worry—there are so many possibilities for fun within these ground rules so kids are having a blast AND staying safe.

Come make waves with us in a week full of imagination, friendship, and outdoor adventure! 🌿 Learn more and sign up via our website.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Katerina ✨

Many of you have connected with Katerina through camps, emails, phone calls, transfers, registrations, or cancellations. She has been part of the Wildheart family for an incredible 10 years, and each summer she, her husband Clay, and their daughter travel from North Carolina to teach with us.

Katerina brings such a kind, generous, and magical presence to everything she does. Whether she’s supporting families behind the scenes or connecting with children in the field, she leads with warmth and care. We are incredibly intentional about who represents Wildheart, and Kat is truly one of the very best.

Thank you, Kat, for the many hats you wear and the heart you bring to our community. 💚

🐉 Dragon Riders Summer Camp Photo Drop 🌼

We are continuing to have a fun, magical, and memorable summer season. In our Dragon Riders camp up at Skyliner Lodge last week, kids learned basic navigation tools, made dragon realm maps, searched for hidden treasure, and made dragon lair forts. Dragon Riders is one of our most popular themes for a reason. The hidden magic comes to life as the kids attune their awareness to the forest over the course of the week. Look out for the Dragon Riders theme in the summer season, No School Nature Days, and Spring Break Camp! 🐲
