June in Des Plaines is full of fun activities for the whole family! Check out these events and programs as summer begins:

☀️ Summer Reading Challenges for all ages begin on June 3 at the Des Plaines Public Library.
☀️ Des Plaines Park District's Family Day at Lake Park is on June 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
☀️ Maine West High School's Community Pride Celebration is on June 3 from 3-7 p.m.

☀️ Des Plaines History Center's Summer Adventures for Kids begin on June 14.

They need to see themselves and their experiences in the books and resources throughout the school helping them to feel seen and understood.

They need to belong…in the classroom, school, and community through friendship and clubs or sports and other activities. This sense of connection gives them confidence making them WANT to come to school.

Today was our second Community Connection event. This trip was to learn about what the Des Plaines Park District has to offer. We also participated in a painting workshop. Love connecting our families with community partners!

Great day of building community and learning at the 20th Bilingual Parent Summit!
