The Plato Academy family mourns the tragic loss of officer John Bartholomew.
We stand with all who are grieving this profound and senseless loss.
Officer Bartholomew embodied the courage, integrity, and sacrifice that define those who serve and protect. But even more, he lived the true meaning of Philotimo - a deep sense of honor, duty, and humanity. In his final moments, he demonstrated the ultimate act of philotimo: upholding the dignity of his calling and honoring even the life of the man he apprehended. In doing so, he gave everything, placing duty and humanity above himself.
His sacrifice is not only one of bravery, but of profound moral courage, a reminder of the values that bind our community and call us to something higher. May his memorial be eternal and may he rest in peace. 🙏
