Des Plaines Community Consolidated School District 62 Official account for Community Consolidated School District 62, educating more than 5,000 Pre-K – 8th There are two middle schools: Algonquin and Chippewa.

Community Consolidated School District 62 serves more than 5,268 Pre-K – 8th-grade students in eleven schools. More than 600 early learning (ages 3-5) students are educated at the Early Learning Center (ELC) at Forest, Rosemont Recreation Center, and the Des Plaines Public Library. The District's 11 schools include:
Iroquois Community School, a year-round school serving kindergarten through 8th gr

ade. Other elementary schools are:
Central, Cumberland, Forest, North, Orchard Place, Plainfield, South, and Terrace. All students advance to Maine West High School. District 62's page is established to provide information about news, achievements, updates, events and activities. This page will be updated often so that our community becomes aware of district news in a timely manner.

Welcome back District 62! Today, we opened the doors of our 10-month schools for what promises to be one exciting school year. And while we are happy to welcome back our students, we are also happy that as of today, full day kindergarten has been launched across our entire district. We are thrilled to provide our youngest learners with this opportunity. We look forward to watching them learn and grow this school year.

This morning we stopped by Central Elementary, which has undergone extensive construction and renovations over the past year specifically in anticipation of this launch. With over 13,000 square feet of renovated and newly added space, this was the second largest undertaking of construction work within District 62 (second to North Elementary). To those who worked tirelessly to ensure these new learning spaces were ready for today: we thank you.

Here's to a strong start to the 2026-2027 school year.
