We're excited to host the Cuarteto de Cuerdas de Bellas Artes from Mexico City for a mini residency October 19th & 20th. Join us for a free public performance on Tuesday, October 20th at 7:30 in Sheslow Auditorium.

The Cuarteto de Cuerdas de Bellas Artes appear in collaboration with the Música INBAL

Due to illness, this week’s visit from Jordan Concert Series Guest Artist Heidi Melton has been postponed.

This includes:

🎶 Wednesday, September 23 Voice Masterclass
🎶 Thursday, September 24 Recital and Reception
🎶 Friday, September 25 Voice Masterclass

We are working to reschedule Heidi’s visit for November and will share updated dates as soon as they are confirmed.

We look forward to welcoming Heidi to Drake University soon!

We’re celebrating another Drake Music alum! 🎉 Congratulations to Calla Whipp on being named a 2026 Des Moines Business Record Forty Under 40 honoree!

Calla graduated from Drake University in 2009 with degrees in Music with Elective Studies in Business and Business Administration in Marketing. A clarinetist who studied with Clarence Padilla, she performed in Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Jazz II, Jazz Combo, Marching Band, and Bulldog Brass.

Today, Calla is Director of Marketing & Public Relations for the Des Moines Symphony, a marketing consultant for Civic Music Association and Music Under the Stars - Iowa, and owner and teacher at Sounding Sharp Studio.

Congratulations, Calla! We love seeing the skills built through music continue to shape careers, communities, and the arts long after graduation. 💙🐾🎶
