If the Nov 4 bond is approved by voters, how would it impact the tax rate?

If passed, this bond referendum will cost the average Des Moines homeowner $16.53 per month – less than the cost of a Netflix subscription, and less than the cost five years ago. In the 2020–21 budget year, the district’s tax rate was $18.61 per $1,000 of taxable value. The current rate is $14.61. If voters approve the proposed $265 million bond, the additional $1.99 levy would bring the estimated rate to $16.53 in 2026–27. That is still roughly $2.00 lower than the district’s peak rate just five years ago.

Inflatable Costume Races at Wright Elementary In the spirit of fall festivities, Wright Elementary teachers and staff took to their marks and raced across the schoolyard in inflatable costumes for the enjoyment and amusement of the entire school.
