Holy Family Catholic School- Des Moines

Holy Family Catholic School in located in Des Moines, Iowa and serves many families from all over th John, St. Peter Vietnamese. Many continue on to college.

Our Pre-Kindergarteners through eighth graders come primarily from Des Moines’ inner city-parishes: The Basilica of St. Ambrose Cathedral, Our Lady of the Americas, All Saints and Church of St. Some students represent the second, third or even fourth generation in their family to attend Holy Family or one of its predecessors. Other students—about 75%, as a matter of fact—are first-generation Amer

icans, children of immigrant/refugee parents who’ve come here in search of a better life. There are nine different languages spoken by our student population—English, Spanish, Dinka, Hmong, Vietnamese, Sudanese, Arabic, Laotian, and Shilluk. More than two-thirds of our students have English as their learned language, and more than 70% live below the poverty line. More than 95% of our eighth grade graduates go on to Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines. Nine out of ten of our students graduate from high school. Five priests serving the parishes that support the school are in the classrooms once a week to supplement the daily religious education the students receive from certified catechists.

🚨REMINDER🚨
Mandatory Parent Meeting Night is tonight from 6:00-7:00pm at Holy Family. One parent from each family is required to attend. We will start in the gym and then you will have time to go to your students classrooms to hear important information from them. We are so excited to see the students today and everyone else tonight!

Field Day got a little more competitive this year thanks to our Canonical Administrator, Father Nivin! 💙☀️

From tug-of-war battles to kickball highlights, Father Nivin jumped right into the fun and brought so much joy and energy to the day. Holy Family is blessed to have a leader who loves our students, supports our community, and isn’t afraid to compete alongside the kids! 🙌
