When Camden started lessons with me in January, he showed me the solo he wanted to learn this semester. I asked if he’d been listening to any recordings he loved or if he had a sound model in mind.

“Yeah. The one my band director said I needed to listen to. The best one.”

I asked if he knew the performer’s name or if he could pull it up for me. “…some guy on a stage, I don’t know…” 🤣

Had to get a picture of the moment for , that “guy on a stage,” because I knew he wouldn’t believe me otherwise. 🤣

It’s so special to me how the musicians and people who had a profound impact on the way I teach, hear, and love music are naturally finding their way into my students’ lives too. Thanks for pulling up from Atlanta one month after to give our students private lessons, a masterclass!

Shoutout Tommy Doggett and Mr. Breese at Urbandale J-Hawk Activities - there’s some incredible teaching going on in your program. Thank you for trusting me with your students! Congrats on a beautiful performance at our studio recital, Camden. I’m so proud of you.

It is not lost on me how lucky I am to watch you grow into the leader and musician you are in the same spaces and department where you were my little cousin running around at my concerts and recitals, and where I’m now so grateful to teach.

We’re celebrating a year of learning and making music together next Sunday, May 3rd at 4:00. No ratings, no judges, no competition, just a chance to share space and make some music for our friends and family.

My studio ranges from age 5 through high school juniors, and we’ve become a little family that I’m so grateful for.

Für Elise and A minor blues with a backing track both have a place in his recital rep this year. Yesterday, he didn’t want to practice both, just one..

One of his biggest strengths is his brilliant ear, and even he caught himself off guard with this one!

Student-centered and flexible approaches that support focus, creativity, and confidence guide how I teach and support learners of all levels of ability.

We’ve known each other for a couple years now, so trust has been built over time. The fact that he pushed back a bit is a positive. He surprised himself with what he could create and proved he could do it, is engaged, and learning!

That feeling when you’re old enough to know just how lucky you are to share space, time, and energy with the friends who have grown with you, challenged you, and stayed.

Back in FAC together… 16 years after it all began, and not a single thing has changed. 😂
