Who We Are
The Rooftop Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving children in central Iowa a chance to experience a Christmas that otherwise would not have been possible. What We Do
Each year we pick an elementary school in the Des Moines area that has a high percentage of children receiving free lunches (sometimes as much as 100%). Students are treated to breakfast, a shirt and a

stocking hat. They are then matched up with volunteer guides and a gift card to go on a shopping trip to purchase gifts for their family members. After shopping, students and volunteers meet back at the school to wrap the gifts and then receive a gift bag of their own from Santa. We also do similar programs with YESS Youth Emergency Shelter & Services and Hawthorn Hill women and children shelter. Overall, we hope to instill a sense that it is better to give than receive and also to facilitate the joy and empowerment that comes from having the ability to give gifts to loved ones.
