Representative Mia Su-Ling Gregerson is a familiar face in the community she serves. The State representative of the 33rd Legislative District is a Highline Alumna who works on initiatives that directly address key needs in our community, such as prioritizing expanded voting rights, stable housing, providing digital equity, and tackling food insecurity.

Highline Alumna Shanique Dickens died in a tragic accident on I-5 last weekend. Shanique graduated with her AA degree in June 2018 and transferred to Eastern Washington University. She was a TRiO student who was very much involved in the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS). In addition, she was a proud member of the third cohort of the Umoja Black Scholars program. She always credited her Umoja family for connecting her to Highline and for helping her see that college was in fact for her. Even after she’d graduated from Highline, she returned multiple times to volunteer for the Y.E.L.L. and Black & Brown summits.

Our sincere condolences to Shanique’s family and to everyone who knew her.
