Our first graders wrapped up EL Education Module 1 by putting their learning into action with an exciting “Magnificent Things” project! 🛠️💡

Students were challenged to design and create something useful and helpful for others. They dreamed up ideas, planned their designs, worked together, solved problems, and brought their creations to life!

And their magnificent ideas were AMAZING! 🤩

🧘 Calming fidgets to help students feel ready to learn
🔢 Number lines to support math learning
🚪 Signs to make our hallways more welcoming and helpful

2. We need families to join us on Saturday, October 17. This event helps us raise about $5,000 each year! It is the #1 fundraiser we do each year.

Three important announcements from CV:

#1. Because of all the rain and bad weather this week, we are postponing our Popsicles on the Playground event by one week.

The event will not be on Thursday, September 17.

***Instead, the event will be on Thursday, September 24 from 4:00 - 6:00pm****

Please join us next week for popsicles and a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Week!

There will be a dance performance in the gym on September 24 at 5pm!

#2. Reminder -- there is no school on Friday, September 18.

This is a teacher training day.

#3. Reminder -- there is no school on Monday, September 21.

This is a religious holiday.

If any family needs a school calendar, please stop by the main office and we can give you a DMPS calendar that is also a magnet!

Des Moines Public Schools Foundation's annual One Run Fundraiser is just 5 weeks away! This is an excellent opportunity to help raise money for Capitol View.

Middle Schools: 8:30 AM – 3:35 PM (Brody, McCombs and Weeks will temporarily continue to dismiss at 3:25 p.m.)

All Elementary Schools: 7:40 AM – 2:35 PM
