Meet our External Vice President, Iris Hertting! Iris is a sophomore studying Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, and Computer Science. Majors: Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics.
Favorite DASS memory: The first year meet-up when I was a freshman.
Why I chose ActSci: Aside from the math/ business/ analytics components being a great fit, exam progression is both very challenging and rewarding.
Fun fact: I write movie reviews on Letterboxd ().
Summer plans: Remote actuarial internship with Humana.

Why I chose ActSci: I love math and wanted to challenge myself
Fun fact: I have a birthmark shaped like a fish, and I was a competitive swimmer
Summer plans: I am going to be an actuarial intern at Pacific Life.

Meet our Social Chair, Matthew Larsen! Matthew is a sophomore studying Actuarial Science and Data Analytics.
Favorite DASS memory: the DASS bowling event my freshman year, these social events are a great opportunity to meet and form some connections with students you might never share a class with.
Why I chose ActSci: I chose Act Sci primarily because of my strong interest in math, but have grown to love it for all its other details. From the softer business skills to the heavy analytics, Act Sci has covered the entire spectrum of things I would want in a career.
Fun fact: I was a previous record holder for all you can eat pancakes at Perkins (21).
Summer plans: I will be working remotely with Pacific Life Insurance on the Financial Planning and Analysis Team.

Favorite DASS Memory: last year's Papa Keno's event and meeting other actuarial students
Why choose ActSci: I am a very risk averse person and pursuing actuarial science allowed me to learn a wide amount of information related to business, finance, mathematics, and risk management
Fun Fact: I love to go fishing throughout the year and enjoy watching and playing hockey
Summer plans: I will be interning at Securian Financial

Starting off our EC Spotlights is our Secretary, Gabrielle Prill! Gabrielle is a sophomore majoring in Actuarial Science, Finance, and Management & Organizational Leadership. Favorite DASS event/memory: The American Family event this year titled “You got the job, now what?” I found it to be relevant to where I am at right now as far as having internships decided.

Why I Chose Act Sci: It is a beautiful mix of business and mathematics that is facts-based and has true impact on a company. Further, I am able to push myself to learn a new skillset that will benefit me for the rest of my life.

Fun Fact: Living in the Black Hills of South Dakota, I am 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. I will pay the $10 parking at least once a summer with the sole intent of buying the strawberry cheesecake ice cream sold at the monument. OR my family owns a bulldog named Norman (.prill)

Summer plans: Working remotely with Travelers in their ALDP program.
