Westminster is a preschool in Beaverdale that serves children 2 to 5 years of age. We currently have two program options:
M-TU-W-TH from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Westminster Preschool, located in the Beaverdale neighborhood, serves children ages 2-5 in a variety of part-time and full-time classes. Our teachers use early childhood best practices to create meaningful curriculum using the Project Based Learning approach. This approach encourages children to take leadership in their learning experiences by promoting collaboration and effective communication sk

ills. Program Options:
-FOUR-YEAR-OLD UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL
Westminster Preschool partners with the Des Moines Public Schools to offer the state-funded preschool program at our site. M-TU-W-TH from 12:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Our program uses a research-based curriculum that aligns with Iowa’s Early Learning Standards and is intended to prepare children to be successful learners in kindergarten. Children must be 4 years old by September 15 of the current school year. There is no tuition if your child is enrolled by October 1.

-THREE-YEAR-OLD PROGRAM
We currently offer two program options for three-year-olds:
M-T-W-TH-F 8:30-11:30 a.m. or M-T-W-TH-F 8:30-4:30

Our program for three-year-olds follows current best practices in early childhood education and uses the research-based Project Based Learning. The daily schedule provides a balance of teacher-directed small- and large-group activities, center activities, music and movement and gross motor activities. These offerings help develop your child’s physical, social, language and cognitive skills as well as love and curiosity for learning.

-TWO-YEAR-OLD PROGRAM
We offer two program options for two-year-olds:
TU-TH from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. M-W from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. This program provides an opportunity for children to play with other children in a warm, nurturing environment and helps ease the transition to preschool. Wrap Around care is now available for children who need full day care options. Wrap Around is available when the students aren't in their regular classes. M-T-W-Th-F: 7:30-5:30

2026-2027 Registration is starting in a few weeks! Reach out to preschool director Kalee to set up a tour and get more information about our center! We offer care for ages 6 weeks*-4 years old!

*Our Infant classroom spots are limited and spaces open as available, we are not currently enrolling new students in this room, but families are more than welcome to tour and get on our waitlist!

Why send your kiddo to preschool at the age of 2? Well, we at Westminster can think of a lot of reasons! 2 year old preschool creates a solid foundation for further schooling; the kiddos learn all of the basics like how to stand in a line, following simple directions, how to be kind humans to one another, etc. Along with the basics, we teach age-appropriate curriculum to 2’s just like we would for a 4 year old class! 2 year olds are ready and willing to soak up knowledge and learn how to be independent and we are all for that!
