Our Wapsie Valley FCCLA officer team visited Fairbank Elementary today to deliver career lessons to our sixth graders!

The officers chose a career that encompasses many of the skills taught in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education: interior design! Students learned about the career, what interior designers do, and the skills needed to be successful. They also got to put their creativity to work by designing their own living rooms, “Wapsie rooms” (game rooms), bedrooms, dorm rooms, and more!

We love seeing our FCCLA officers take the lead in teaching others about careers and sharing the many opportunities available through FCS!

Tomorrow, we are heading to Readlyn Elementary, and we can’t wait to share even more about careers with our students!

We spent the day in Dunkerton for the Fall Sub-District Cedar Valley FCCLA Meeting! Students heard from a 2014 Iowa FCCLA State Officer, participated in leadership activities, completed a service project, and enjoyed spending time with fellow FCCLA members. Thank you to everyone who helped make today a great day of leadership, service, and connection!
