FCCLA is proud to continue our partnership with the American Red Cross!

Thank you to the American Red Cross for recognizing our chapter as a Premier Blood Partners Program member for another consecutive year. This award recognizes our commitment and dedication to supporting the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.

We are grateful to our students, staff, donors, and community members whose support makes this possible. Every blood donation has the power to save lives, and we are honored to help make a difference through our blood drives and continued partnership.

We are excited to share that the Family & Consumer Sciences program at Wapsie Valley is one of only 15 programs/school districts across the state of Iowa selected to participate in a pilot program through the Iowa Department of Education!

As part of this opportunity, our program has been chosen to participate in the Work-Based Learning (WBL) Launch Sprint Kit Pilot Program. Through this initiative, the FCS program will create and publish lesson plans and instructional units focused on work-based learning, which will then be accessible to educators and those involved in education throughout the state of Iowa.

We are incredibly honored and thankful to have been selected by the Iowa Department of Education to participate in this pilot program. We look forward to helping create meaningful learning experiences that will benefit students not only at Wapsie Valley, but across the state of Iowa!

A special congratulations to all of our FCCLA members on your graduation. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and the leadership, service, and dedication you have shown throughout your time in FCCLA.

We hope your experiences in FCCLA have made a lasting impact on your life and helped you build skills that you will carry with you far beyond high school—leadership, responsibility, teamwork, communication, and a passion for serving others.

As you begin this next chapter, we encourage you to stay connected by joining FCCLA Alumni & Associates and continue giving back to the organization that has helped shape so many memories and opportunities. Your journey with FCCLA does not have to end at graduation.

Congratulations again, Class of 2026! We cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish in the future.

Huge thanks to Immaculate Conception, Fairbank, IA for their generous support of Wapsie Valley FCCLA! Their donation is helping our students get closer to attending the 2026 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

As a self-funded organization, we truly rely on sponsors to make opportunities like this possible. We are so grateful for community partners who invest in our students and their future.

Thank you to Linsay Csukker from the National Marrow Donor Program for visiting with our senior students last week! Students learned about what bone marrow is, how marrow and stem cell donations can help save lives, and why donor registries are so important for patients battling serious illnesses such as leukemia and other blood disorders.

Linsay shared powerful information about the need for donors and how one simple decision can make a life-changing impact for someone in need. We are proud to share that numerous Wapsie Valley seniors made the commitment to join the donor registry and signed up that day to potentially help save a life in the future.

Experiences like this give students the opportunity to learn about compassion, community involvement, and how they can make a positive difference beyond the classroom. Thank you again to the National Marrow Donor Program for helping educate our students!

Today and tomorrow, we are excited to welcome Officer Shores from the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office into our FCS classes to help students learn about the FCCLA national program FACTS — Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety.

Students had the opportunity to learn from Officer Shores about Iowa driving laws and statistics, how Iowa’s hands-free law has helped reduce traffic fatalities, and why understanding the dangers of impaired driving can help save lives.

Students also participated in hands-on activities using impairment goggles that simulated vision changes, slowed reaction time, depth perception issues, balance challenges, and coordination difficulties to better understand the dangers of operating vehicles and machinery while impaired. In addition to driving the pedal cars, students completed activities such as pouring water into cups, playing Jenga, and writing their names while wearing the goggles to experience how impairment affects everyday tasks.

Thank you, Officer Shores, for the informative presentation and for allowing students to use the pedal cars for this valuable learning experience!
