A&P MECHANIC WANTED – DES MOINES, IOWA
Vertical Vision Flight Academy is growing, and we’re looking to add an A&P Mechanic to support our flight school fleet at Des Moines International Airport.
Our preference is to find an experienced A&P Mechanic who can step into a busy flight school maintenance environment and confidently support the day-to-day needs of our fleet. However, we are also willing to consider a newly certificated A&P who demonstrates the right attitude, work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Our fleet is primarily made up of Piper Archer training aircraft, operating in a high-utilization environment where safety, reliability, and aircraft availability are extremely important.
Responsibilities may include:
• 50-hour, 100-hour, and annual inspections
• Routine and preventative maintenance
• Troubleshooting and repairs
• Aircraft discrepancies and return-to-service work
• Maintenance recordkeeping and logbook entries
• Supporting day-to-day flight school maintenance needs
What we’re looking for:
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate
• Previous general aviation maintenance experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe maintenance practices
• Dependable and able to work independently
• Good communication with pilots, instructors, and management
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced flight training environment
Experience with Piper aircraft, Lycoming engines, Garmin-equipped aircraft, or flight school maintenance is a plus.
While experience is preferred, we believe the right person matters just as much. A newly qualified A&P with a strong work ethic, good judgment, and a desire to grow within the position is encouraged to apply.
