Goodrell iJAG Chapter Officers attended their I&I event last Friday!

Bonus: seeing so many Goodrell iJAG alumni from East and North representing their High School iJAG programs as Chapter Officers. (Look at the last two pictures for reference.) I was one proud specialist!

2nd week with Teen Cuisine was a success!

Last Friday some of our students got the opportunity to go to Principal Financial to attend Girl Scouts Takeover Day! We listened to some amazing speakers, watched a handful of short films about women empowerment and got in some community service time by making bags out of t-shirts to donate!

Thank you to our first guest speakers of the year! Two amazing members of the Des Moines Fire Department came and spoke with us about their careers. They were wonderful and the students loved hearing their stories!

Yesterday we kicked off our Teen Cuisine program with the Iowa State Extension and Outreach Program! We went over making healthy choices, reading recipes and learning how to measure ingredients! At the end of class, students got to enjoy their hard work with a healthy treat. 🍓 Can’t wait to see what we do next time! Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates

School started back up and we hit the ground running! Doing a lot of work getting to know each other and working on reflective listening. Next up is our campaign for Chapter Officers! ❤️💙 Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates Goodrell Middle School

Goodrell iJAG took on Adventureland today and we had a blast!

And just like that these amazing iJAG students are done with middle school!! Bring on summer and High School!❤️💙

We competed in the first EVER Skills Development Conference today for all 7/8 and 9/10 iJAG programs. The students had to compete in an event, had some great discussions in a workshop and got to package meals with the The Outreach Program. At the end of the conference was an awards ceremony!

Mason competed in Career Preparation and did amazing!
Ella competed in Prepared Speaking and got 4th place!
Maxine, Alannah and Medina competed in The L.O.V.E Project and got 2nd place!!
