We recently had a few visitors come to Jefferson and pull a prank. While we understand that it may have been intended as a funny joke, we want to remind our community that Jefferson is a place where our students should always feel safe, welcomed, and respected.
​
We love that our Jefferson community has so much school spirit, and we especially love when our former students and community members stay connected to Jefferson. However, we ask that visitors please be mindful of how their actions may impact our current students and staff.

Instead of pranks, we encourage our community to be a “Jet Setter” for our current Jefferson students! Come back to share a positive experience, encourage our students, volunteer, share your talents, or simply show them what it means to be a proud Jefferson Jet.

Once a Jet, always a Jet! Let’s continue to be positive role models for our students and show them what it means to be part of the Jefferson community.

Jefferson Elementary is looking for a Building-Assigned Substitute/Guest Educator to join our amazing school community!

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students, supporting teachers, and being part of a positive and welcoming school environment.

Position Details:

Pay: $180 per day
Role: Building-Assigned Substitute/Guest Educator
Location: Jefferson Elementary

Requirements:
Applicants must hold a valid Iowa teaching license, substitute license, or substitute authorization issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE).

If you do not have a full teaching degree, you may still qualify by obtaining a substitute authorization through an approved course offered by an Area Education Agency or college.

The hiring and onboarding process through Des Moines Public Schools includes required background checks, transcripts, and orientation.
